FAQ au pair insurance

The full amount for our au pair insurance can be paid by credit card, PayPal or you can pay by monthly direct debit from a German account. Also payment by wire transfer from a European bank account is possible provided the money is transferred until 3 days prior to insurance start the latest.

You have the possibility to print and download your au pair insurance confirmation right after your online application. Once you confirm your e-mail address, all documents will also be sent by e-mail. Additionally, all documents will be available if you created and activated a CareMed account. For assistance please feel free to contact us.

You have the option to extend your insurance period subject to the terms of insurance available at that time. Please be aware that pre-existing conditions are not covered in the subsequent policy period. Please log in under "login for insureds" and click on extension. Within 2 business days you will receive a reply from your CareMed team concerning the extension of your au pair insurance (max. insurance period is 36 months).

Yes, you will receive the remaining monthly premiums of your au pair insurance minus an admin fee of €15,00/US$17.00. Please inform us about the end of your au pair stay as soon as possible as we cannot backdate the reimbursement.

Prior to the start date you may cancel your au pair insurance with CareMed without any charge. Please login and send us your request of cancellation.

If the au pair continues the au pair year, au pair insurance can be kept. Remaining insurance premiums need to be paid by the new host family to the previous host family.
